Camping

For 2010 we have the following camping fields available:

  • Shoreside – Noisy camping (For party animals)
  • Fellside – Family camping (Quieter late night, noisy mornings!)
  • Townside – Quiet camping (Shhhh)!
  • Farmside – Overspill (a little bit of everything)!

To see which of these is which, check out the siteplan by clicking here

We know that at festivals people like to camp with their friends. Unfortunately, camping space is always at a bit of a premium at Solfest and we need to fill our fields sequentially. This means that we cannot allow people to "save" space for their friends. The only certain way to guarantee that you will be camping together is to arrange to meet up a few miles away and travel onto the site in convoy. This is what we recommend that you do.

As keen festival enthusiasts ourselves, we know that if the main entertainment finishes early in the evening, it is all too common for people to return to their own tents and create their own entertainment, often, at the same time disturbing other people who are trying to sleep.

To combat this, we aim to keep the main festival area running as late as possible – all be it at a reduced volume, so that those who want to sleep can do so in peace, and those who are not yet ready to drift into slumber can continue to socialise in the dance tent, enjoy a late night pint of “Solfest Ale” in the bar or check out the late night entertainment in the acoustic area. No private sound systems or petrol driven generators will be permitted on site.

Please respect people’s right to a good nights sleep, especially if they are camped in the quiet/family camping area, but also please remember that wherever you are camped, it is unreasonable to expect absolute silence all night – it is a music festival after all!

Facilities

All camping facilities will be basic but clean. Toilets will be of the blue ‘portaloo’ type and will be professionally cleaned on a daily basis. Toilets with disabled access will be available. Since we have very large numbers of toilets on site and only one “sludge gulper” truck to empty them, the trick is to keep a look out to see where on site the truck is working and by doing this you can guarantee that you will always find the cleanest, freshest toilets! Please try to avoid camping or parking right around the toilets, because if the truck can’t get in to clean them, then after a couple of days you might be wishing you had left room for it! There will be lighting and fresh water supplied in all camping areas, but it might be an idea to bring your own water container and fill it up last thing at night to avoid queuing at peak times. All camping facilities will be provided and maintained in accordance with the Government HSE guidelines on Event Management, but remember, Solfest is a festival and not a 4* hotel Once again, there will be a very limited number of showers available this year!

Vehicles

As a ticket holder, your vehicle will be permitted on site and you may camp next to your vehicle. If you bring a camper van you may erect a tent or awning next to it. We want you to stay for the duration of Solfest and also for the purposes of safety need to restrict traffic movement around the site. Therefore we request that once parked, people do not move their vehicles except in emergency. Once again, we will be running a minibus shuttle service from the train and bus stations in Aspatria on Friday and Monday. This service will be free on production of your Solfest ticket. More details can be found on the Location page.

You are welcome to bring your caravan to Solfest at no extra cost!

Camping Fees

Unlike most festivals, there is no additional charge for camping at Solfest. However, we would ask people to respect the camping area and share lifts where possible. This is in the interest of managing congestion on the site and also limiting the pollution in the environment. If we all work together to ensure the camping area is a success, we can continue with this policy in future years.
